Allegro Train Travel

Train Travel up 22% between Finland and Russia.

In the first quarter of 2011 train travel between Finland and Russia reached 100,600 passengers, a 22% increase from last year's first quarter.

In December of 2010, 30% more passengers travelled between Helsinki and St. Petersburg compared to the previous December. This increase in train travel is a result of greater interest in the new high-speed Allegro trains.

One of the most popular features of the Allegro train, other than the fact that it makes the trip between Helsinki and St. Petersburg in 3.5 hours, is the onboard border and customs controls, which eliminate the need to stop on the border.

This week regular daily services were increased from 2 trains per day to 4 trains per day, continuing this way through the summer high season until November.
