Politicians and businessmen come together in Irkutsk.
The seventh annual Baikal Economic Forum has kicked off in Irkutsk, Siberia in order to bring together politicians and businessmen to discuss the economic development in Siberia.
This year the Baikal Economic Forum is largely attended by foreign partners interested in investing in the vast lands of Siberia. Roundtable discussions are due to be followed by an international conference on transport problems in Europe, Russia, and Asia-Pacific.
As typical of economic forums, a number of agreements being negotiated are scheduled to be signed in the framework of cooperation of Russia's leading companies and their foreign partners.
There will also be an exhibition of investment projects on display. The Day of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will traditionally end the three day forum program.
