The amount of internet traffic consumed during two summer months constituted 30% from the total amount of information downloaded during two last years of the agreement between Directory of the Railway Stations of LLC "RZD" and TransTeleCom Company. The agreement provides a free high-speed Wi-Fi connection at the stations. In total, the number of people connected to the network reaches 2.7 million people. Every minute passengers are downloading 1 Megabyte of data.

 

During the summer season, the leading station with the biggest amount of Wi-Fi connections has changed. In July, the first place was taken by the Adler's station, which had 17 500 people connected to Wi-Fi, while waiting for the train. The first 10 of most Wi-Fi popular stations are Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Anapa.

 

Starting from 2015th, the passengers of 107 railway stations, with an annual carrying capacity of 380 million people, have downloaded 1.2 PByte of data.

 

In order to start using Wi-Fi services, passengers have to go through the registration process only once, and further on he or she will be automatically connected to the internet at any other station connected to the Wi-Fi network.
