New Year's Celebrations on the Russian Railways
New Year's celebrations for passengers will be held at the Russian Railways network in the end of December - beginning of January.
Facades of train stations all over the country are already beautifully decorated, Christmas trees can be seen at the waiting halls, and a series of festive events are scheduled.
At many stations, for example, in Kurgan and Rostov-on-Don, performances will be held for those children who depart to Moscow to take part in the New Year Celebration in the Kremlin. All children will be greeted by Ded Moroz (Russian Santa Claus) and Snegurochka (his granddaughter), who will be handing out candies, calendars and other New Year gifts.
Official departure of the train to Veliky Ustyug, Ded Moroz’ homeland, will take place on January 4th, at the Ladozhsky Station in St. Petersburg. On December 28t, Ded Moroz himself will invite passengers to take a festive ride on ‘Lastochka’ train in Nizhny Tagil. An ice town has been built near the train station in Chelyabinsk.
In addition, Russian Railways company has scheduled a series of New Year shows. For example, a quartet of Ded Morozes will perform at Surgut train station. In Saratov, children's performance "Visiting a fairy tale" will be held.
Exhibitions of children’s works and winter paintings will be held at most train stations in Russia, and in Sochi - a music competition will be held.
New Year music will play at all major stations in Russia, popular Russian New Year movies and programs will be broadcast in the waiting rooms.
On the New Year’s Eve, Train Chiefs will personally congratulate each passenger, and the traditional speech of Russia’s President will be broadcast in all cabins. All the trains will be nicely decorated, kids will receive candies, and a special holiday menu will be offered in the dining cars.
It is planned that in 2017 about 60 000 passengers will meet the New Year on board of 482 trains.
