Trains for Football Fans

Special trains for 2018 FIFA World Cup Fans!

Russia is planning to introduce new European sytle two-storied trains to transport football fans for the upcoming World Cup. Russia also plans to build a new high-speed railway network.

The plan is for fans to have the opportunity to travel on the new two-storied trans from Moscow to leading neighboring cities such as Vladimir, Kaluga, Ryazan, Tver, Tula, and Yaroslavl. The trains will be built by Russia's leading company "Transmashkholding" together with French company Alstom. The first trains are shceduled to be ready for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

The new electric trains can accommodate more passengers and consequently solve the problem of lack of trains in several directions. Russian Railway Company (RZhD) spokesman Dmitry Pertsev said, "These trains consists of new rolling stocks that will guarantee comfortable conditions. The trains will have first, second and thirtd class wagons. All trains will be air conditioned and equipped with fire extinguishing systems and signaling arrangements, and passengers will get all the necessary information. In short, travelling in the new trains will be very enjoyable for the passengers."

Russia has chosen to upgrage its railway system leading up to the Winter Olympic Games and the World Cup to more modern systems, such as the two-storied trains which have been used in Europe for many years now. A large number of fans are expected from many countries to support their teams for these events. Since the World Cup will be held in 14 different cities, fans will have to travel long distances.

The first 660-high-speed railroad that links St. Petersburg and Moscow will be commissioned by 2017. The speed of the trains will be 300-400 kilometers per hour, meaning that travel time between the two cities will be reduced to only 2.5 hours.
